Cathy Larimer

Cathy was born in Waterloo, Iowa on September 5, 1951 to Beth Elaine Mclean Nicklaus and Paul Burdette Nicklaus of Parkersburg, Iowa. Most of Cathy's childhood life was spent in the Parkersburg area. She and her mother and brother Steve moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa in 1962 where she graduated from High School in 1969. She attended Iowa Central Community College before transferring to The University of Northern Iowa where she completed her Business Education Degree. She later received her Masters of Arts Degree in Education from Southern Illinois University. Cathy married Bruce Larimer of Florissant, Missouri on August 10, 1974 in Sac City, Iowa. Except for living on the family farm for 3 years Cathy and Bruce made their home in Florissant, Missouri. Cathy was currently employed by the St Louis School District at Riverview High School as a teacher of Business Education with a total of 30 years of continuous teaching service. She loved her family and her students. She often spoke of teaching as an act of love and hope. She always had a special affection for horses. Cathy touched many lives with her generous heart.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Bruce, and son, Michael Earl Larimer; mother, Beth Gibson and husband Don of Wall Lake, Iowa; brother, Steve and wife, Sue of Eagle Grove, Iowa; Bruce's parents, Don and Crystal Larimer of St. Louis, Missouri; Bruce's sister, Diane Hawkey of St Louis, Missouri; Bruce's brother, Alan Larimer of St. Louis, Missouri, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a great-nephew and great-niece. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Nicklaus; stepfather, Floyd Schnirring; grandparents Frank and Marie McLean; and, August and Tillie Nicklaus.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 10th, 2004, 10:30 a.m., at the First Christian Church in Sac City with Reverend Sharla Hulsey officiating. Sarah Hawkey, soloist, will be accompanied by Joyce Irwin, organist, and Jeanette Strain, pianist. Honorary pallbearers include Dennis Larimer and Paul Stout. Active pallbearers will be the following: Harold Peyton, Kevin Shelp, Troy Turner, Alan Larimer, Dennis Hawkey, and Marvin Arnold. Graveside services will be at the Cedar Cemetery, rural Sac City, at 10:00 a.m., under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Visitation is prior to the funeral service at 9:00 am, Friday, December 10th, at the First Christian Church.
