Robert L. Jenison, 65, Westport, Conn., died Sunday, July 6, 1997 at his home of Lou Gehrig's disease. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 10, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Belmond, Iowa, with the Rev. Jim Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in the Belmond Cemetery, Belmond. Military rites will be under the direction of the Belmond Guard.

Mr. Jenison, the son of Earl and Hazel Jenison, was born April 5, 1932 in Pleasant Township, rural Belmond. He graduated from Belmond High School in 1950 and married Nancy Johnson in 1951. After attending Iowa State College, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952 and served with Patrol Squadron Sixteen (VP-16) during the Korean conflict. He joined International Business Machine (IBM) Corporation in 1956 and worked in various management capacities with the organization in Charles City and Cedar Falls, Iowa; Minneapolis, Minn.; Fargo, N. Dak.; and Madison, Wis. While in Wisconsin, Mr. Jenison was active as a volunteer firefighter for the Mt. Horeb Fire Department and established the city's first Emergency Medical Service. He was active in the Lutheran Church and served as an officer of the church in Mt. Horeb. In 1978, he and his wife moved to Belmond where he became part owner of Helland and Long Implement Company. Later he worked as an officer of Keifer Built, Inc. and District Representative for Aid Association for Lutherans. An avid Clear Lake sailer, he also served as an officer of Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond and was a member of the Board of Directors of Opportunity Village in Clear Lake.

He is survived by his son, Dr. Rick Jenison, Phd., Madison, Wis.; his daughter, Dr. Jane Jenison Olson, M.D. of Westport, Conn.; three grandchildren; two brothers, George and Leland, Belmond; and two sisters, Elna Day, Mason City, Iowa and Ardeth Laake Belmond. Organist Eldoris Bunnell will accompany soloist Kathy Carpenter. Pallbearers are Mr. Gary Gusland, Mr. Rich Dane, Mr. Al Froehling, Mr. Glen Schluz, Mr. Al Olson and Dr. Dennis Kessler.
