Britt man dies at Vets Hospital

BRITT – William F. Schons, 61, died Wednesday at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church here. The Rev. Justin Kane will officiate and burial will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery. American Legion Post 315 will conduct military rites at the graveside. Rosaries will be said Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the Boughton Funeral Home. Born March 25, 1898, at Gilbertville, he was the son of Nicholas and Anna Titus Schons. He served in the U.S. army from 1917 to 1919 with action in France and Germany. For the last several years he has been employed by the government in affiliation with the Dupont Corporation and has been connected with the guided missile program. July 18, 1921, he was married to Eleanor Yeoman at Waterloo. They had lived at Fort Madison 33 years and came to Britt two years ago. Surviving are his wife, two brothers, Nicholas, Waterloo; Arnold, Inglewood, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs Helene Duffy, Mrs. Anna Bloef, Mrs. Margaret Kurtz, all of Waterloo, and Mrs. Mary Herrick, Lamont.
