Mrs. Kennedy Died Monday
Mrs. Glen H. Kennedy, 70, long-time Webster City resident, died at 5 p.m. Monday at the Hamilton county hospital where she had been a patient the past three months. She had been in failing health the past two years. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev George Eddy officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.
Helen Cordes, daughter of Henry A. and Laura Cordes, was born Nov. 27, 1893, at Parkersburg, Iowa. When she was five years old, she moved with her parents to the Kamrar community. She received her elementary schooling in the Kamrar schools, later attending State Teachers college at Cedar Falls. She taught schools in Hamilton county for several years. She was united in marriage June 12 1917, to Glen H. Kennedy, and the couple farmed in the Kamrar, Blairsburg and Galt communities for several years. In 1926 the family moved into Webster City, which has been the family home since.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died Aug. 16, 1962, by her parents, two sisters and two grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters and four sons; Mrs. Weldon (Gleneva) Wright of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Frank (Ardys) Svehla of Torrence, Calif., Darrell Kennedy, Ackley, Iowa, Robert Kennedy, Westmount, N.J., Bryce Kennedy, Iowa City, and Jared Kennedy, Warner Robbins, Ga., 17 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three brothers, Paul Cordes, Webster City, Robert Cordes and Asher Cordes, both of LaPuenta, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kennedy was a member of the First Baptist church.
