Mason City- Edgar Floyd May Sr., 83, of 2328 20th Street S.W. Mason City, died Tuesday February 1, 2005 at the I.O.O.F. Home, Mason City. Memorial service will be held 10 A.M. Saturday February 5, 2005 at the Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street N.E., Mason City with the Rev. Eddie May III officiating. Graveside services will be 1 P.M. in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Swaledale, Saturday, with military honors conducted by members of the Mason City Veteran’s Memorial Association. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Edgar F. May Sr. Memorial Fund.

Edgar Floyd May Sr. was born July 17, 1921 in Kanawha the son of Charles and Viola (Mays) May. Edgar attended school in Forest City. He enlisted in the United States Army on November 5, 1942 serving in World War II. Edgar married Bonnie (Ward) May on June 15, 1947 in Swaledale; to this union four children were born. Edgar owned and operated the Conoco gas station on 19th and South Federal for 19 years. He went to work for Speed Alman driving a gas tanker, later working and retiring from Butler Curtis Oil, in Mason City. After retirement Edgar and Bonnie enjoyed wintering in Donna, Texas. Edgar enjoyed fishing, playing softball, and woodworking crafts. He was an avid sports fan. He was member of the V.F.W. and Swaledale Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie May, of Mason City, children Barbara (James) Anderson, of Chandler, AZ, Edgar Jr. (Nancy) May, of Mason City, Jeff (Rufina) May, of Virginia Beach, VA, Rhonda (James) Tanner, of Mason City, grandchildren; Scott (Kim) Anderson, of Appleton, WI, Tracy (Dax) Austin, of Queens Creek, AZ, Edgar III (Lisa) May, of Fertile, Michael (Erin) May, of Mason City, Tera (Neil) Peterson, of Badger, Kelly May, of Iowa City, Brian May, of Iowa City, Rebeka May, of Virginia Beach, VA, Yvonne Jenks, of Virginia Beach, VA, Stephin Foreman, of Virginia Beach, VA, Mandy (Dave) Stoffer, of Tracy, CA, great grandchildren; Justin and Heather Anderson, Daniel Austin, Holden Austin, Cooper Austin, and Wyatt Austin, Sharayah and Joshua May, Rhiannon and Ayrton Peterson, Stephan and Andrew May, Tara Kirby, Emily Stoffer, Samantha Martin, brother; Delbert May,of New Hampton, sister; Berdella May, of Mason City, sisters-in law; Peg Odem, of Mason City, Hannah Sandy, of Mason City, Marie Ward, of Rockwell, Liz Ward, of Mason City, and Jackie Ward, of Iowa Falls, TX, along with many nieces nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, son; John May, sister; Ethel Hanson, brother; Vic May, and great granddaughter; Jordan May. Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel;
