Mason City- Deane K. Johnson, Sr., 74, of 1033 17th St NE, died Monday (August 21, 2006) at his home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at Hogan – Bremer - Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City with Reverend Steven Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
Deane K. Johnson, Sr. was born on July 1, 1932 a son of Kenneth and Agnes (Schluesner) Johnson in Winnebago County, Iowa. Deane attended school at Belmond and later graduated from North Central High School, Manly. Deane was united in marriage to Patricia Johnson at Manly. He worked for Hoxie Fruit Company, Witwer Grocery, and Young’s Distributing, Mason City. In 1970 Deane began Johnson Sign Company which he operated until retiring in 2000. He enjoyed traveling, art, reading, and visiting casinos. Deane is survived by his wife Patricia of Mason City, two daughters, Linda Johnson, Manly; Sheryll (Cliff) Vath, Mason City; two sons, Deane (Jeannie) Johnson Jr., Mason City; Dan (Danella) Johnson, Mason City, seven grandchildren, Ken, Holly, Brandon, Brooke, Devin, Ashley, and Robert, and 6 great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley (Harold) Woods, Bevington, IA, and his mother-in-law, Leona Knutson, Mason City. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Don and a sister, Betty.
