Forrest “Frosty” Wilbur Coe, 77, of Ventura, died Saturday, June 18, 2005, at the Belmond Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at the United Methodist Church in Ventura, with Reverend Audrey Westendorf Young officiating. Burial will be in the Ventura Cemetery with military honors conducted by members of the Clear Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North 4th Street, Clear Lake, and one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the church.

Forrest “Frosty” Coe was born on June 16, 1928, in Mason City, the son of Wilbur and Blanche (Porter) Coe. He attended and received his education in the Ventura School system. He was inducted into the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Roosevelt during World War II. He was united in marriage to Virginia “Ginny” Lee Stepleton on May 1, 1953, in Mason City. She preceded him in death on May 15, 2005. Forrest worked as a finish carpenter and foreman for 25 years for Beck and Fisher Construction Company in Clear Lake building many homes around the lake. He later worked as a finish carpenter and foreman for 10 years for Nonnweiler and Reichardt Construction Company in Garner until his retirement. Forrest loved and enjoyed building wood working projects for his family and helping other people. He loved the outdoors, hunting, reading, was a sports enthusiast, and riding around the lake, but his great love and enjoyment was his family and grandchildren. He was a Methodist by faith, charter member and past president of the Ventura Gun Club and won the Class C Championship, he also loved bowling and was the 1969 all events bowler and was bowler of the year. While in the Navy Forrest played AAA baseball.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; Matthew M. Coe of Ventura, Teresa Patton and her husband Charles of Montevideo, Joni Chase and special friend Clint Kaune of Oelwein, Jeff Coe and his wife Debora of Rochester, MN, and Amy Reiter and her husband Brad of Clarion; 14 Grandchildren, Nick, Taylor and Sydney Patton, Sandy Coe, Sarah (Coe) Myers, Michael and Matthew Chase, Julie (Chase) Love, Joshua and Ashley Coe, Amanda (Coe) Johnson, and Tyler, Michellynn and Payton Reiter; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister Cleo Overgaard of Ventura, a brother, Larry Coe and his wife Jane of Ventura, two sisters-in-law, Carol Mahrenholz and her husband Jerry of Tifton, GA, and Irene Coe of North Branch, MN, a brother-in-law, Charles Stepleton of Clear Lake as well as many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Besides his wife Forrest was also preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Forrest W. Coe Jr, three brothers, Ted, Kenneth, and Cecil Coe, and a sister, Joy Currier.
