Ilene Lenore Knapp the daughter of Alvin and Aletta (Johnson) Enge was born December 1, 1921, in Kanawha, Iowa. She died on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at the Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minnesota, at the age of 86. She graduated from Plover High School in 1939. She then attended Sioux City Academy of Beauty Culture. Ilene operated a Beauty Shop in Plover and later in Ringsted for many years. On September 8, 1943, she was united in marriage to Carl Knapp. The couple farmed at Laurens, then Graettinger and moved to Ringsted in 1960, when they bought the John Deere Implement. Ilene continued her Beauty Shop until 1989. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served on the church council and Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Left to cherish Ilene's memory are her husband, Carl of Ringsted; children, Ronald Knapp and his wife, Mary of Ringsted; Donald Knapp and his wife, Nancy of Lake Crystal, Minnesota; Linda Abdmoulaie and her husband, Mansoor of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother, Allen Enge and his wife, Pat of Bemidji, Minnesota; sisters, Phyllis Oberg of Grand Forks, North Dakota; Norma Miller and her husband, Jim of Fargo, North Dakota; and sister-in-law, Rita Enge of Surprise, Arizona. She has been preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Arnold, Claire and Ray.
