BOONE, IA -- James L. Humberg, 45, of 1416 Peony Lane, formerly of Clear Lake, died Wednesday (Dec. 13, 1995) at the Boone Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton. Visitation will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake. The family suggests that memorials may be made in his name. He was born Jan. 14, 1950, in Belmond, a son of Carl and Arlene (Dirks) Humberg. On July 28, 1972, he was united in marriage with Nancy Tupa in Sioux Falls, S.D. He was employed in the construction industry and worked as a heavy equipment operator. He later worked as an assistant for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. He was employed by the DNR from 1983 to 1995. He was stationed at Big Creek State Park in Polk City from 1983 to 1987. He then moved to Ledges State Park, near Boone, where he was an assistant park ranger. Jim was an avid hunter of ducks, geese and deer. He also loved fishing and the out-of-doors, including feeding the animals. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Humberg of Boone; his mother, Arlene Humberg of Clear Lake; four children, Greg Tupa and his wife, Barb, of Albert Lea, Minn., Lisa Tupa of Denver, Colo., Brian Tupa of Des Moines, and Sheryl Luzzader and her husband, Frank, of Boone; a sister, Shirley Davis of Boone; a brother, Robert Humberg and his wife, Linda, of Clear Lake; seven grandchildren, Heather Tupa, Joshua Tupa, Nicole Montgomery, Tasha Montgomery, Mary Montgomery, Ryder Luzzader and RayLee Luzzader; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Humberg.
