February 16, 1967Lulu B. Holt, 63, a long-time resident of the Earl community passed away at the Shell Lake hospital on Saturday after a short illness. Mrs. Holt was born in Dows, Iowa, the daughter of Gustave and Bertha Butenhoff. In 1916 she and her family moved to the Earl community, where on May 20, 1926, she was united in marriage to Ralph E. Holt, and to this union six children were born. Mrs. Holt was a member of Royal Neighbors, Comstock Lodge No. 8915 in Earl, the Namekagon Congregational Church and the Ladies Aid in Earl.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Holt is survived by her husband, Ralph; four daughters, Mrs. William Kruger (Elaine) of the town of Stone Lake, Mrs. Gene Anderson (Norma) of Earl, Mrs. Gordon Kates (Lois) of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Mrs. William Austin (Linda) of Cameron; two sons, Donovan, Spooner, and Larry, Earl; she is further survived by three brothers, Gustave Butenhoff of Minneapolis, Minn., Art Butenhoff, Trego, and Walter Butenhoff, Earl; one sister, Mrs. Earl Thomas (Martha) of Earl, plus 14 grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Namekagon Congregational Church in Earl, with Rev. Roy S. Brown officiating. Burial was in the Earl Cemetery with the Dahl Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
