March 19, 1908–June 26, 2004

Mildred I. TURK, 96, of 846 S. Indiana 19, Akron, Indiana, formerly of Clarion, Iowa, passed away at 4 p.m. on June 26 at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester. Born in Mason City, Iowa, to John M. and Delilah Potter Hall, she married Harold H. Turk on Jan. 29, 1929, in Mason City, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 1999. Mrs. Turk was a homemaker and a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Clarion, Iowa. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and was an avid fisherwoman. Survivors include one daughter, Suzanne and husband Dean Baker, Akron; one son, Richard Turk and friend Beverly Fueling, Boone, N.C.; three grandchildren, Christopher Baker and wife Darlene, Rochester, Sarah Solano and husband Richard, Akron, Marne and husband Scott Esselman, Boston; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Trudy Shasky, Phoenix. She was preceded in death by three sisters, her parents and her husband. A memorial service is 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Akron United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Jarboe officiating. There is no visitation. Memorials may be made to Akron United Methodist Church Youth.
