Luard "Verne" Ellis, 72, Kansas City, died May 10, 2009. Verne was a retired Major from the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Belton-Raymore Rotary Club and Quails Unlimited. He was president of R.G. Credit Union, where he had more than 30 years of service. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Karolyn Ellis, of the home; his sons, Douglas Ellis, Grandview, and Michael Ellis (Joanne), Lee's Summit; his daughters, Sherri Beasley (Brett), Freeman, and Julie Ellis, Grandview; a brother Don Ellis (Margaret), Dows, Iowa; and five grandchildren, Amy and Chad Beasley, Erika Smith (Tim), Caleb Ellis and Stacia Cline. Verne was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at Mt. Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 14, at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 1200 S.W. Blue Parkway, Lee's Summit. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd. or Belton-Raymore Rotary Club, P.O. Box 631, Belton, MO 64012. Arrangements: Mt.
