Bernice P. Peterson, 86, of Webster City, died Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center. Mrs. Peterson’s wishes were to be cremated. Private graveside services will be held at Graceland Cemetery with Rev. James Zuehls officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center in Webster City.

Bernice Pauline Gorden daughter of Samuel and Pauline Thompson Gorden was born on September 18, 1921 at her parents home in Fertile, Iowa. She attended rural schools in the Forest City area. On January 24, 1942, she married Donald Vernelle Peterson at St. Olaf's Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. The couple resided on a farm south of Webster City. Bernice had worked for many years at Deluxe Cleaners and Modern Cleaners in Webster City. She also worked at Bourns in Ames until her retirement. Upon retirement, they wintered in Donna, Texas for over 18 years. Bernice loved to knit, crochet, make crafts and play Bingo. They moved to Webster City in 2002. Mr. Peterson died on April 27, 2003. She had been residing at Fort Dodge Villa Care since June of 2007.

Mrs. Peterson is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Herbert Krout, Shirley and Jim Cox, all of Fort Dodge; Janice and Chuck Fredericksen of Webster City; son, Donald V. Peterson Jr. of Des Moines; nine grandchildren, four great granddaughters; sisters, June Trausch of Belmond and Betty Lou Peterson of Fort Dodge. In addition to her husband Donald, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Paula in infancy; sisters, Geneva Rollins, Sylvia Hansen; and brothers, Sanford Gorden and Manly Biondahl. She was a member of Washington Lutheran Church in Duncombe. Bernice will be deeply missed by her family, many friends and her dog Ko Ko.
