Donald E. Scott, son of Clarence and Nellie Scott, was born Dec. 25, 1918 at Stratford. He graduated from Stratford High School. On Jan. 17, 1941, he married Mildred Will at the Methodist Church in Vincent. Mr. Scott was a veteran of World War II, serving in the army. For many years, the couple farmed southwest of Eagle Grove. In the mid 1950s, they moved to the Meadowview Farm south of Webster City where they farmed for over 20 years. In the early 1970s, they purchased a farm in Minnesota where they farmed until 1983 when they retired to Webster City. The couple were very involved in traveling on their Gold Wing motorcycle and decided to move from Webster City to Loveland, Colo. where they stayed until 1992. For many years they were members of the Christian Motorcycle Association. Their enthusiasm for the open road gave them an opportunity over the years to cycle through all 50 states. From Loveland, Colo., they moved to the Hannibal, Mo. area. In 2002, they returned to Iowa living in Fort Dodge. Due to Don’s failing health, the couple moved in March of this year to Crestview Senior Living in Webster City.

Donald is survived by his wife, Mildred, one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Sharon Scott of Morton, Ill.; two grandchildren, Dr. Matthew Scott of Boise, Idaho, Debbie Johnson and husband Daryl of Green Lake, Wis; four great-grandchildren, Abby, Emmy, Max and Wyatt Johnson; brother Raymond Scott, Fort Dodge; two sisters, Luella Doolittle and Charlotte Richey, both of Webster City. He was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Ober.

Donald was a member of the American Legion Post #191 who will provide the final Military rites with presentation of the United States Flag at the graveside services on Tuesday. Don and Mildred were members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Webster City for many years and continued there Lutheran faith as they moved and traveled.
