Bernard C. Erickson, 81, of Hampton died October 16, 2001 at Hampton Care Center in Hampton. Funeral services were held Friday, October 19 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hampton with Rev. Jon Anderson officiating. Burial was at the Hampton Cemetery. Military service was provided by the Hampton Veteran Memorial Association.

Bernard was born December 1, 1919, to Alvin and Pearl (Thompson) Erickson of Kanawha. He graduated from Kanawha High School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Zada Baker on June 17, 1967. They were engaged in farming. Bernard was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and St. Paul Lutheran Church, the American Legion and Farm Bureau. He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-great grandson. Survivors include: his wife, Zada Erickson of Hampton; three sons: Delbert Wirtjes of Hampton, Dean and Gwen Wirtjes of Hampton, and Marvin and Gayle Wirtjes of Albia; and two daughters: Diann and Jerry Otterstad of Cozad, NE and Shirley and Jon Ell of Rochester, MN; brother Bob and his wife Ruth Erickson of Belmond and 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
