Audrey (Nissen) Dillon, 69, of Thornton, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services were held Wednesday , Nov. 29, at the United Methodist Church in Meservey, with Rev. Jim Gochenouer officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Music was provided by Janyce Kinseth, organist; Kayla Halfpap, vocalist. Ushers were Ferd Lemke and Scott Sprau. Casket bearers were David Halfpap, Gary Muhlenbruck, Gene Christianson, Doug Halfpap, Brad Muhlenbruck, and Charlie Dickman.
Audrey Alyce Muhlenbruck, the daughter of Leslie and Nellie (Blankenship) Muhlenbruck, was born September 13, 1931, at her grandfather's home at Hampton. She attended elementary school in a one room schoolhouse and graduated from Meservey High School. She was married to Bud Nissen on October 3, 1948, at the EUB Church in Meservey. They began farming and Audre worked as a church secretary, then at the Southern County News newspaper office, at Mirror Reporter in Clear Lake and PSI in Belmond. Bud died in 1986. Audre was united in marriage to Mike Dillon on June 13, 1995, at Walker MN. They have made their home in Thornton. Audre enjoyed the Garden Club, a bridge club, being a Den Mother, bowling and golf. She had been battling cancer for several years. Preceding her in death were her parents, Leslie and Nellie Muhlenbruch; and her first husband, Bud Nissen. Survivors are her husband, Mike Dillon of Thornton; sons and daughter-in-law, Steve and Holly Nissen of Ames, Brian of Midway, CA; daughter and son-in-law, Kristi and Charlie Phillips of Cambridge, MN; grandchildren, Matt, Lyndsay, Katlyn, Ian and Monica Nissen, also, Alyson, Robert and Steven Phillips.
