Catherine Sullivan Tyrrell, 91, died November 30, 2000 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, TX. She was born June 14, 1909 at Rochelle, IL, daughter of Irving and Alice Sullivan. She graduated from Rockford College, IL, and the University of Colorado, Boulder, CO. On September 13, 1930, she married William C. Tyrrell, Jr., at Evanston, IL. They lived in Belmond from 1931 to 1946. She was active with the Buckner Children's Village, Beaumont Public Library, Tyrrell Historical Library, Tyrrell Park, Gulf Coast Historical Society, the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, the Symphony of Southeast Texas, Magnolia Garden Club, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Beaumont Heritage Society and United Way. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Frances (Tyrrell) and Kent Gathright. Survivors are her husband, William C. Tyrrell, Jr. of Beaumont; their two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Frank Eastman of Beaumont, TX; and Lynne and Clifford Campbell of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Ross Eastman, Catherine Campbell Hevrdeis, and William Campbell, all of Houston; Bryan Campbell of Austin, TX, Gary Gathright of Tulsa, OK, and Grayson Royer of Colorado Springs, CO; 11 great grandchildren. Catherine was the sister-in-law of the late Preston Tyrrell of Belmond and the aunt of Dwight Tyrrell of Belmond.
