Robert Sellers, 82, of Mason City, formerly of Swaledale, died Friday, Feb. 8, at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Retz-Grarup Funeral Home, Thornton with Rev. Kent A. Mechler presiding. Interment with Military Honors by Gallagher Post #208 American Legion was at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Swaledale. Retz-Grarup Funeral Home, Thornton, was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert C. Sellers was born Dec. 4, 1925 in Russell, a son of Everett and Cora Mae (Sims) Sellers. He attended school in Goodell. Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a longtime member of the Gallagher Post #208 American Legion in Rockwell. When he returned from the service Robert was united in marriage with Norine Clair Evans at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They made their home in Swaledale and raised three children. Robert worked at Eddy’s True-Value Hardware; he also was a handyman who did many repair jobs for people well after retirement. After Norine died in 1994 Robert moved to Mason City where he enjoyed spending time at the Senior Citizen’s Center especially playing cards and pool. Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family and helping people.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter: Ruth Beery and fiancé Terry Schmitz, Mason City; sons: Jerry (Patty) Sellers, Mason City; Danny Sellers, San Bernardino, Cali.; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brothers: Donald Sellers; Carl (Joan) Sellers; sister: Mary Nolte and many nieces and nephews. Robert is preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers Berdette and Virgil; sister Opal; brother-in-laws Robert Etter and Bernard Nolte and sister-in-law Marion Sellers.
