Frieda H. Madison, 78, of Goodell, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at the North Iowa Mercy Medical Center in Mason City. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 15, at United Methodist Church in Goodell with Pastor Patrick Kennedy officiating. Interment was at Amsterdam Cemetery near Goodell. Music was provided by Shirley Kuhlers, organist; Marilyn Janssen, vocalist. Honorary casket bearers were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Balk, Mary Lou TerHark, and Wayne Lein; casket bearers were Richard Becker, Wayne Mason, Rick Smith, Andy Boelman, Dalon Obrecht, and Richard Wiederhoeft; ushers were Gerald Burk and Larry Langlitz.

Frieda, the daughter of Fredrick and Johanna (Oltman) Deling was born June 17, 1921, in Estherville. She grew up in northern Iowa and
southern Minnesota. She was married to Carl Madison on January 22, 1941, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church parsonage in Goodell and to this union three sons were born, Donald, Robert, and Gerald. Frieda was employed by the Goodell and Belmond Community School as a
cook and was head cook for 30 years. She liked baking, embroidery and making rag rugs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; and three sisters Amelia, Anna and Margaret. Frieda is survived by three sons and two daughters -in-law, Donald and Hildegard Madison of Belmond, Robert and Eileen Madison of Belmond, Gerald Madison of Goodell; four grandchildren, Rosemary, Donald, Mary and Keith; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lena Nelson of Waseca, MN, Rica Becker and her husband Oscar of Truman, MN, Helen Kopischke of Madison Lake, MN, and Dorothy Lewis of Medelia, MN; and two brothers, and sisters-in-law, John and Judy Deling of Waseca, MN, and Raymond and Carolyn Deling of Miami, FL.
