Florence Rose Jante, 72, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, September 14, 2000 at her home. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake with Rev. Jana Swenson officiating. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Florence was born October 7, 1927, in Goodell, daughter of Roy and Sadena (Green) Cline. She married Curtis R. Jante on August 25, 1946 at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Garner. They farmed in the Garner area until 1956. Curtis and Florence built the A&W Restaurant in Belmond and operated it until 1961 when they sold the business. They purchased the A&W Restaurant in Forest City and operated it until 1989. She and Curtis moved to Clear Lake in January, 1989. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the P.E.O Club, and the TTT Sorority.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Doris Hette; and one brother, Raymond Cline. Survivors include: on son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Jan Jante of Keokuk; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jim Dickson of Ankeny, and Sherill and Dan Moen of Coralville; eight grandchildren, Teri Jo Peterson, Eddy, Billie, and Brett Jante, Meghan and Guy Dickson, and Jeremie and Lyndsey Moen; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Tisch of Santee CA and Alice Jacobmeyer and her husband, Howard, of Belmond.
