Rosamond Luella Gray was born June 8, 1910 at Beaver, Iowa, the second child of four born to Arthur William Gray and Bessie Leona Kirkendall. She attended school in Renwick, Iowa and graduated from high school there. Rose was married to Dietrich (Dick) Hefty on June 28, 1928 at the Evangelical Parsonage in Renwick. The couple lived in several communities in Humboldt county area, where they farmed together. Dick worked as a salesman, carpenter and painter. Rose worked as cook in local schools and later at the Humboldt Hospital. Dick died in January of 1972.
In September of 1977, Rose was married to Fritz Krause in the Methodist Church in Goldfield, Iowa. The couple lived in Fritz's home near Hardy, Iowa. Fritz died in August of 1982. Rose then moved to a house in Renwick where she suffered a stroke. Following another stroke and surgery, Rose quietly passed away on December 12, 1993 at North Kansas City Hospital, in Kansas City, MO, having attained the age of 83. She is buried beside her first husband at the Swiss Cemetery in rural Renwick, Iowa.
