RENWICK - Violet E. Helmich, 87, of Renwick, died Saturday (Oct. 9, 1999) at the Clarion Health Care Center, Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Renwick, with Pastor Sandy Krynik officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Township Cemetery, Rural Hardy. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Renwick.

Violet Edith Norris was born on April 22, 1912, at Aurora, Illinois, to George and Edith Mary Seymour Norris. As a young girl, she moved with her family to the Belmond, Iowa area. She received her education there. After her schooling, she worked for neighboring families. On June 27, 1937, she was married to Carl Fred Helmich. The couple farmed near Renwick, Iowa, for a time, then moved to their present farm northwest of Renwick in 1937. She has lived there since then. Her husband, Carl, preceded her in death on February 18, 1987. She was an active member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Renwick, where she belonged to the Ladies' Aid, Sewing Circle, Bible study group, and in her younger years, she was active in Luther League and Jr. Mission Band. She was also active in school functions such as Band Boosters at the Boone Valley School, when her children were growing up. She also belonged to the Hi Neighbor Club at Renwick.Violet E. Helmich died Saturday, October 9, 1999, at die Clarion Health Care Center in Clarion, Iowa, at the age of 87. She is survived by one son, Kenneth Helmich, Renwick; four daughters, Sandra Stevenson and husband, Roy, Houston, Texas, Nancy Jobson, and husband, George Hartlepool, England, Karen Lamb, and husband, Mark, Des Moines, Iowa, and Joan Boomgaarden and husband, Neelo, Omaha, Neb.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, George F.
Norris and wife, Delores, Clearwater, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Carl.Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 12, 1999, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Renwick with Pastor Sandy Krynik officiating. Burial was held at the Vernon Township Cemetery in Rural Hardy, Iowa. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home of Renwick was in charge of arrangements. Memorials are to be sent to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Renwick, and the Leukemia Society of America.
