MRS. WILBUR C. BRALEY DIES IN AZUSA, CALIF.

A copy of an Azusa, Calif., paper, gives the following account of the death and burial of Mrs. Wilbur C. Braley, former Kellogg and Grinnell resident, who passed away recently, as was announced in The Herald at the time.

The account is as follows:

Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Elizabeth Wiegand Braley, beloved wife of Wilbur C. Braley, were held Tuesday afternoon at White's Funeral Home, with the Rev. W.A. Jennings of Hemet, assisted by the Rev. John Wesley Grande of Azusa, conducting the services. Mrs. Harve Ellington sang at the services, accompanied by Mrs. George Garrett at the organ. The services were attended by a large crowd of friends whose floral offerings banked the chapel. Interment followed in Oakdale cemetery, with the Eastern Star in charge of the rites.

Mrs. Braley died very suddenly at her home Saturday. While she had not been feeling well, her condition was not regarded as at all serious. She was 72 years of age at the time of her death.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Braley is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Merna Ebersold of Azusa; Mrs. Wynona Nadeen Hertenstein, Pasadena; and Mrs. Reba Clara Tracy, Huntington Beach. There are also three grandchildren, Wilbur Thomas Ebersold, Joan Hertenstein, and Bert Braley Tracy. Neither Mrs. Tracy, who is confined in a hospital, nor Mr. Ebersold, who is recovering from an appendicitis operation at Sawtelle hospital, were able to attend the services.

Mrs. Braley was born in Madison, Wis., on Sept. 22, 1861. Her family moved to a farm near Kellogg, Iowa, in 1863, and on January 8, 1884, she was married to Wilbur Braley at Belmond, Iowa. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with their many relatives and friends at the Azusa Woman's club last January.

Mr. and Mrs. Braley made their home in Kellogg until 1908, when they moved to Grinnell, Iowa. Their three daughters and one other child, Mary Elmyra, who died in 1894, were all born in Kellogg. In 1916, Mr. and Mrs. Braley moved to Azusa, where they have lived ever since, taking an active part in church, club and civic affairs. Mrs. Braley won many friends throughout the San Gabrial valley and was widely known and respected as a woman of noble Christian character, and one who was devoted to service of her family and friends.
