Elaine Wojtysiak, 83, of Culver, Minn., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 3, 2009, surrounded by her loving family in her new home at Suncrest Assisted Living. Elaine was born Aug. 4, 1925, to Raymond and Hazel (Kenton) Jeffers in Thor, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Ignatz Louis Wojtysiak on Nov. 28, 1941. Elaine was a gentle and loving woman. Her greatest love and joy in her life was her family. She would always say she didn't need diamonds, rubies or pearls, because her children were her jewels. Elaine spent many of her years as a "stay at home mom" while farming their farm in Culver. When not busy tending to her children or working the farm she enjoyed bird watching, reading, crossword puzzles, music, and watching or listening to any sporting events that her family was involved in. In later years she was able to enjoy traveling to see family, fun cribbage games with her dear lady friends, involvement in the ladies guild where Elaine was a dedicated lifelong member of St. Phillips Catholic Church, and welcomed visits from family and friends. Elaine's mission in life was to try and bring joy to others, where through her kindness and thoughtfulness, she did just that.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ignatz Wojtysiak; son Michael; infant son Charles; three brothers, Leighton, Morse and Raymond; and sister Ruth. Elaine is lovingly survived by her children, Ray (Jan), Rosemary (Larry) Gardner, Ed (Carolyn), Steve (Pam), Maggie Baldwin, Anne Podgorak, Art (Cathy), and Ken (Val); and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who all thought she was very special and dearly loved her. She is also survived by a brother, Thomas Jeffers; sisters Iola Wojtysiak and Minnie Fletcher; brother- and sisters-in-law, Louie and Martha Zuk, Opal and Elsie Jeffers, Rose Magdzdiarz and Helen Wojtysiak; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the dedicated and compassionate St. Mary's Hospice staff and the exceptional caring staff at Suncrest Assisted Living. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 7, from 5-8 p.m. in Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Washington Ave., Cloquet, with the rosary at 7:30 p.m. The visitation will continue Wednesday, April 8, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 4904 Independence Rd., Saginaw. Interment will be in the Industrial Cemetery, Industrial Township. Arrangements with Handevidt Funeral and Cremation Service.
