Harlan E. Egemo, the son of Weir and Cecelia (Ness) Egemo, was born February 19, 1934, on a farm near Goodell, Iowa. The family moved to Eagle Grove when he was two years old. He attended Eagle Grove Community Schools and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He worked for Umthun Trucking until a seizure disorder forced him to retire. He was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church. He lived in nursing homes for 50 years in Fort Dodge, Clarion, and Webster City.

Harlan Egemo died Monday, April 6, 2009, at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City at the age of 75 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Grace Thompson, Catherine DeWinter, and Arlene Spangler; brothers, Howard, Verner, and Lawrence. Survivors include his sisters, Beatrice Burk of Eagle Grove, and Marjorie Vorland and husband, Herman, of Hardy; brothers, William Egemo of Fort Dodge, and Arnold Egemo and wife, Elaine, of Waterloo; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 9, at 2 p.m., from the Samuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Stan Peterson officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove and Goldfield was in charge of arrangements.
