Arends Funeral to Be Wednesday at Alexander

ALEXANDER, IA — Funeral services for Mrs. John (Hattie) Arends, 75, will be conducted at the Community Methodist Church Wednesday. Burial will be at the Alexander Cemetery. She died Sunday evening at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines, after being in a coma for nearly two months.

Arends Funeral Is Conducted at Alexander

ALEXANDER—Funeral services for Hattie Arends, 75, were conducted Wednesday at the Community Methodist Church here. Burial was in the cemetery here. The Rev. B. R. Price was in charge of services with the E. Ray Green Funeral Home, Hampton, handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Arends died Sunday at Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines. She had been ill for nearly two months. She was born May 13, 1881, the daughter of John Bell and Ellen Tucker Bell at Alexander. She was married to John Arends on May 3, 1902, at Alexander. She spent most of her married life on farms west of Alexander and in 1955 she moved to a new home in town. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.

Surviving are five children, Leonard, Shenandoah; Bennie, Carlisle; Jesse, Elmhurst, Ill.; Mrs. Fred (Sylvia) Webb, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and Robert, Tampa, Fla.; four brothers and sisters, Mrs. Fred (Lulu) Greenfield, Mrs. Fred (Lottie) Larsen and Lewis Bell, all of Alexander; and Mrs. J. H. (Nellie) Leebrick, Belmond.
