BELMOND — Glen W. Thompson, 58, died unexpectedly Saturday at the Belmond Community Hospital where he had been a patient since suffering a heart attack a week ago. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church here. The Rev. M. L. Jones will officiate and Johnson Funeral Home is in charge. He had been a resident here since 1943. Born in Illinois, Oct. 11, 1900, he came to Iowa at 16. He was married to Hazel Thomason at Eagle Grove, Feb. 20, 1924. They farmed near Goldfield 19 years. They moved to a farm near Belmond where they spent 10 years until moving into Belmond five years ago. He was a member of the city council at the time of his death. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Duane and Donald; a daughter Mrs. Paul (Darlene) Deiger, all of Belmond. Also surviving are his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Woomer, Eagle Grove, two brothers, Emery and Kenneth, two sisters, Florence and Verona and a half-sister, Velma Passmore. He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers.
