Esther LaVonne Johnson, the daughter of Louis and Clara (Kehlenback) Bohy, was born on February 6, 1917, in Woolstock, Iowa. Esther attended school in Woolstock. At the age of 16, she and her mother moved to Eagle Grove. Esther passed away at that same home. On March 29, 1945, Esther was united in marriage to Ogden J. Johnson, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. They made their home in Eagle Grove. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2001. Esther was an active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, the American Legion Auxiliary and Senior Citizen’s Center. She helped Oggie in his business as well as being a fulltime homemaker and loving mother. Esther loved to fish and camp, and enjoyed being with friends and family. Esther passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at her home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 92 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Dennis Johnson; brothers, Henry, Arther and Charles and sisters, Catherine, Martha, Margaret and Rose. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Johnson and Bill Brook and Sharon Johnson, all of Eagle Grove; son, George Cleveland of Des Moines; sisters-in-law, Mabel Bohy and Daphne Johnson of Eagle Grove, brother- in-law, Don Mathiason of Belmond and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 6, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Chris Lang officiating. Visitation is Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
