Victor Meyer, 90, Sheffield, died March 30, 2009 at Muse Norris Hospice in Mason City. Victor was born August 18, 1918 in rural Latimer to Ernest and Ida (Bruns) Meyer. He attended Latimer High School. He married Ruth A. Kemp on October 4, 1941 in Belmond. Victor worked as a farmer and also held positions in tiling and construction.

He was preceded in death by his wife; sister Mardell Havens; and brother Norman Meyer. He is survived by his son Terry (Pamela) Meyer of Thornton; grandchildren Stacy (Jeff) Palmer of Parkersburg, Jason Meyer of Thornton and Kimberly Meyer of Waterloo; sisters Ilene (Don) Moore of Decorah and Evon Bailey of Terrill.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 A.M. at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer, Iowa. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton, Iowa. Burial will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield, Iowa. Rev. Tom Cofer will be officiating.

Victor F. Meyer, 90, of Sheffield, Iowa, formerly of Hampton, Iowa, passed away March 30, 2009,at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. He was born August 18, 1918, in rural Latimer, Iowa, to Ernest and Ida (Bruns) Meyer. Victor attended country school and Latimer High School. He was married to Ruth A. Kemp on October 4, 1941 in Belmond, Iowa. Victor worked as a farmer and also held positions in tiling and construction. He was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer, Iowa. Victor enjoyed wood working, making furniture, wine making and playing cards. He took great pride in his garden, especially his roses and grape vines. Victor also enjoyed helping his son on the farm.

He is survived by his son Terry and wife Pamela Meyer of Thornton, grandchildren Stacy and husband Jeff Palmer of Parkersburg, Jason Meyer of Thornton & Kimberly Meyer of Waterloo, great grandchildren Clayton Palmer, Evan Palmer, Tyanna Skovlund & Jaxon McLemore, sisters Ilene and husband Don Moore of Decorah & Evon Bailey of Terrill and numerous nieces and nephews. Victor was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister Mardell Havens, brother Norman Meyer and one infant brother.
