Gammel Moody was born March 2nd, 1850, in Carroll County, Ohio, and died October 11th, 1926, at Iowa City, Iowa, 8 a. m., and funeral and burial will be at Belmond, Iowa, his former home. Mr. Moody was married about 50 years ago and 3 children were born into the marriage. 2 of whom survive him, Clarence, the youngest having died last winter in Des Moines, Iowa. The surviving are: Ralph Moody, Wyckoff, Minn., Mrs. Hugh Hawley, Belmond, Iowa. Mr. Moody was raised by Methodist parents. His parents moved to Clayton County, Iowa, and homesteaded 2 1/4 miles from McGregor, in what was called the Moody Settlement, consisting of father and mother, 7 sons and 3 daughters and their families in about 1856. Mr. Moody made his home with his sister, Mrs. E. C. Stevens, of Hull. Iowa, since December, 1908, his wife being deceased. He lived a conscientious, honest, truthful life and was a faithful member of the Masonic order during the period of his membership.
