Violet Bertha MacKay, 99, died March 15, 2009 in Leo, Indiana. She was born to Louis and Freida (Heitman) Kruse on Jan. 1, 1910 in New Albin, Iowa. She lived in Eagle Grove, Iowa most of her life, where she worked in her home as a seamstress until the age of 92. She is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Robert) Metcalf of Spencerville, IN, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two sisters (Helen Hauser of Caledonia, MN and Norma Wagner of Walnut Creek, CA). She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie MacKay, son, Charles MacKay, daughter, Kathye (Joe) Madsen, three grandchildren (Kristine Madsen, Corrine and Gabriel Metcalf), and six brothers and sisters (Lula Todd, Esther Haar, John, Irma Reinke, Bill and Harry).
