Jane Elizabeth Willey
June 5, 1952 - Feb. 25, 2009

Jane Elizabeth Willey was born on June 5, 1952, at Algona, to Chester Arthur "Kink" and Frieda Hazel Roeder Willey. At an early age, Jane lived at the Woodward State Hospital in Woodward. She moved to Algona in 1979 and lived at the Kossuth County Care Facility. Jane then lived at the East Home of Exceptional Opportunities in Burt and then moved to Algona, where she lived in a duplex. She worked at Exceptional Industries in Burt. Jane was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. When she was younger, Jane enjoyed visiting her sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Bill Larson at Eagle Grove in the summer. Later, she enjoyed visiting her sisters in Texas in the summer. Jane loved to read the Bible, read all kinds of books, listen to music on cassette and records, eating, traveling, dancing, playing softball and basketball, bowling and participating in the Special Olympics, where she ran the 50-yard dash. Jane died on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City after a short illness. She was 56. A funeral Mass was held Monday, March 2, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona with Father Ed Girres and Rev. Mr. Robert Larsen officiating. Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery in Algona. Surviving are her sisters and brother: Shirley Zepeda and husband, Ray, Fort Worth, Texas; Margaret Norland, Wesley; and Robert Willey and wife, Glenda, Georgetown, Ohio. Also surviving are her brother-in-law, Bill Larson, Fort Worth, Texas, her aunt, Fern Willey, Algona, and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mildred Larson. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
