Alan F. Glascock, 71, of Webster City, died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Crestview Senior Living. A Gathering will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the Foster Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery at Red Oak, Iowa. Alan Fredrick Glascock, son of Fred and Olga Mallett Glascock, was born August 22, 1937 at Springhill, Iowa. He graduated from Osceola High School in 1955 and attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. He received a Masters in History in August of 1966. On December 27, 1959, he married Jean Frances Wombolt at Red Oak. The couple resided at Clear Lake where he taught junior high history for two years. In 1961, they moved to Cedar Falls where he taught history at Holmes Junior High. In August of 1967, they moved to Webster City, he was associate professor in the social science department of Iowa Central Community College. He had taught at Fort Dodge, Storm Lake, Eagle Grove, Webster City, Sac City and Jefferson, retiring in May of 1998. Alan is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Mark and Andy Glascock, all of Webster City, nieces, Paula Godwin of Creston; Johnna Godwin of Des Moines; nephew, David Godwin of Okoboji. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Connie Godwin and brother-in-law, Earl Godwin. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and National Education Association. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with college friends, genealogy, loved carpentry work, as he was growing up he built houses with his dad.
