Jean M. Mudry, 74, widely known Webster City resident, died at 5 a.m. Sunday at the Northwest Hospital in Des Moines where he had been a patient since July 13. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ with the Rev. Marvin E. Brewer officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 10 o'clock when it will be taken to the church.

Jean Marcel Mudry was born June 19, 1896 in Nancy, France. He was a small boy when his father died and when he was 11 years old he came with his mother to the United States, locating in the Woolstock community. He received his elementary schooling in the rural schools in Wright county, and later attended the Coyne Electrical school in Chicago, and received his certificate in an electrical course. Mr. Mudry served in the U.S. Army during World War I, and with the French Army for 26 months. He was united in marriage Oct. 27, 1931 to Cecelia Ruark and for the past 34 years the couple had resided at 1605 Des Moines St. For several years, Mr. Mudry was custodian of the former Mercy hospital in Webster City, and for 33 years was custodian at the Hamilton County hospital. He is survived by his wife. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Mr. Mudry was a member of the Church of Christ, the American Legion and the Veterans of World War I.
