Morris Elias Roberts was born on Oct. 5, 1918, in Eagle Grove Iowa. He passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at his granddaughter's home in Anderson, Calif. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Luella Roberts; and his daughter, Lynn Stratton. He graduated from Nevada City High School in 1936. He worked in the gold mines and for the Union Oil Company prior to serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After many years of employment by Pacific Telephone company, he retired in 1974. He was a member of the Shriners, American Legion, and a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. Morris is survived by his son, Steve Roberts (Gretchen), of Eagle Point, Ore.; son-in-law, Al Stratton, of Antioch, Calif; five grandchildren, Suzanne (Ray) Lobsinger, of Anderson, Calif., Mike (Nicole) Stratton, of Pacheco, Calif, Morrie (Angela) Roberts, of Filer, Idaho, David Stratton, of Redding, Calif., and Niki Chapman, of Antioch, Calif.; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
