March 28, 2001Carla Rae Pallas, 58, of Sioux City died Monday, March 26, 2001, at her residence. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with pastoral intern Sue Flemr officiating. Burial will be in Rowan, Iowa, at a later date. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
Mrs. Pallas was born Jan. 15, 1943, in Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of James and Viletta (Ahrens) Benton. She graduated from high school and attended college for two years. She married Dale Novak on Sept. 17, 1965. He died Feb. 21, 1975. She had lived in the Emerson and Hubbard, Neb., area, where she was employed as a bookkeeper with Hammer Trucking. She moved to Sioux City in 1990. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Survivors include a son and his wife, Donald and Tammy Novak of Harrisonville, Mo.; a daughter and her husband, Danelle and Cliff Sullivan of Sioux City; a sister, Lois Fink of Clarion, Iowa; and two nieces that she raised, Karen Andrews of Rowan, Iowa, and Connie Manning of Emerson, Neb. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Novak; and a brother, David Benton. Pallbearers will be Mike Bartels, Dale Novak, Eric Andrews, Tony Fontanelle, Tom Scott and Glen Manning. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
