Maxine Delores Davis, 84, of Sioux City died Monday, April 30, 2001, at a Sioux City nursing home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sheryl K. Ashley officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mrs. Davis was born Dec. 6, 1916, in Belmond, Iowa, the daughter of Roy George and Eva Hampton (Packard) Brown. She lived in Sibley, Primghar and Onawa, Iowa. She graduated from Onawa High School in 1934. She married James L. Davis on Feb. 25, 1940, in Rockport, Mo. The couple lived in Chamberlain and Mitchell, S.D., from 1940 to 1949. They moved to Sioux City in 1949. She sold investments and vegetables at Peter's Park Farmers Market for many years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Morningside Chapter 512 and was active in Mr. and Mrs. Club at Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting and making Christmas ornaments.

Survivors include two sons, James L. of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Richard G. of Henderson, Nev.; a daughter and her husband, Delores and Irven Parker of Farmington, Minn.; two brothers and their wives, Robert and Corinne C. Brown of Kansas City, Mo., and Roy and Cherie G. Brown of Port Angeles, Wash.; a sister, Marcena Hilton of Minneapolis; a special friend, Sharon Bates of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Franklin W. Rash of Hamburg, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, June Rash. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland, Grace United Methodist Church or Countryside Retirement Community.
