Fort Dodge Messenger, IowaTWIN LAKES - Elizabeth "Betty" FrerKing 88, passed away Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Cottages at Hillcrest Country Estates in Papillion, Nebraska. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rockwell City, with Rev. B.J. Ukena officiating at the Presbyterian Service. Cremation will follow the funeral service and burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, at a later date. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. Memorials may be made to the Twin Lakes Christian Center, Children's Camp Scholarship Fund.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Judi (Rob) Crick of Papillion, NE; grandchildren, Scott (Jill) Crick of Papillion, Ryan (Mandi) Crick of Bellevue, NE, Cari Crick of Richmond, VT, Tim (Lisa) Engstrom of Albert Lea, MN, Jocelyn (Andy) Wallace of Waukee, and Tom FrerKing of Minneapolis; great-grandchildren, Adam and Lauren Wallace, Makayla and Katie Crick, and Forrest Engstrom; and sister Louise Eckerman of Cedar Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman; son Bruce FrerKing; parents, Oluf and Lena Pfeffer Jensen; sister Frieda Jensen; brother Herman Jensen; brothers-in-law, Gerald Ukena and Lloyd Eckerman; and sisters-in-law, Arlene Jensen and Violet Ukena.
In 1948, Betty and her husband the Rev. Norman FrerKing had served the Presbyterian Church in Sac City. In 1959, they moved to Des Moines, where they served the Douglas Avenue Presbyterian Church, and in 1972, they served the Presbyterian Church in Clarion. In 1979, they retired to their home at Twin Lakes, north of Rockwell City.
