Fort Dodge Messenger, IowaEAGLE GROVE - Virginia M. Loar, the daughter of Robert and Maude (Hardwick) Morrison, was born October 23, 1926, in Atchison, Kansas. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth and graduated from High School in 1945 in Long Beach, California. Virginia worked for Douglass Aircraft during WWII. She was united in marriage to Gerald W. Wagner on June 15, 1945 at Long Beach, California. Gerald passed away October 4, 1992. She lived in Arizona, Missouri, California, Ankeny, Grimes, Woolstock and moved to Thor in 1971. Virginia married Donald Loar on November 8, 1992 at Oahu, Hawaii. Virginia enjoyed spending time with family, knitting, crafts, cards, dancing, gardening, reading and playing bingo. She was a member of the Badger 39ers and the Thor Hobby Club.
Virginia passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge at the age of 82 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Gerald; brother, Dale and sisters, Ellawee and Mary. Survivors include her daughters, Jan Wagner and Don Zavodny of Lincoln, NE, Deb (Don) Stensland of Thor, Becky (Rick) Wachowiak of Wilmington, NC, Annette Kanies (Gregory) of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Ben and Michael Zavodny, Laura, Amanda and Derek Stensland, Ricky, Jennifer and Maggie Wachowiak, and Scott Selby (Sonya); two great grandchildren, Erika and Anthony and a sister, Pat Taylor of Jamestown, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 14, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor with Pastor Chris Lang officiating. Visitation is Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in East Ullensvang Cemetery in Thor. Memorials will be left to the discretion of the family.
