HAYFIELD, Minnesota -- The funeral for Jeanette A. Mitas will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield, with the Rev. Paul Hauschild officiating. Interment will be in Bohemian National Cemetery in Owatonna. Jeanette Ardell Mitas, 95, of Hayfield, died Monday (Feb. 9, 2009) at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center. She was born Jeanette Ardell Johnson on March 5, 1913, in Norway Township, Wright County, Iowa. She married Fred Mitas on June 11, 1938, in Osage, Minn. The couple moved to Hayfield in 1989 from Des Moines, Iowa. Mrs. Mitas was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Trinity Ladies Aid. She was a member of Eastern Star for 50 years, and enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing, cooking and baking.

She is survived by a son, Robert (Dorothy) of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Pauline (Richard) Sampson of Schaumburg, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 19, 1994; her parents, Martin and Clara (Skouge) Johnson; and three brothers. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Czaplewski Family Home of Hayfield is in charge of arrangements.
