Geraldine Maxine (Williamson) PALMER

Geraldine Maxine Williamson was born December 29, 1919, the only child of Grace and John Williamson. The Williamson’s lived in Jewell at the time of her birth. John Williamson worked for the railroad as a conductor, so they moved to Eagle Grove where Geraldine graduated from high school. She was married to Donald Palmer on September 5, 1939, in Trenton, Missouri. During the Second World War, Geraldine served in the Women’s Air Corp (WAC) while Donald was in the Navy and after the war they made their home on the family farm north and east of Renwick. In 1955, they moved to Renwick where Donald purchased the Chevrolet dealership. They lived between the family farm and Renwick for the rest of their working lives and in retirement. Geraldine was a stay at home mom who enjoyed raising her children. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary. She loved gardening and bird watching. She also loved all animals and small children. Geraldine died Sunday December 28, 2008, at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City at the age of 88.

She is survived by her son Stephen Palmer and wife Jean of Mason City, her daughter Donna Smith and husband Brad of Seattle, Washington and her son David Palmer of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Donald. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
