1931-2009

Lois (Larson) Sumners, a 42 year resident of Torrance, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at age 77. Lois was born August 23, 1931 in Eagle Grove, Iowa and was the 8th of 11 children. Lois interests included oil painting, sewing at The Knit Sewing Club of Torrance, knitting, crocheting, and spending time with family. Lois worked most recently at Northrop, retiring in 1991. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. Lois was preceded in death by Richard, her husband of 50 years. She is survived by her two sons, Mitch (Lynell) and Mike; her daughter, Terri (Ron) Shimohara; and her two grandchildren, Sam and Kate Shimohara. Services will be Sunday February 8th at 1:00 PM, at Green Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Torrance Memorial Hospital Department of Respiratory and Pulmonary in the name of Lois Sumners.
