July 29, 2002Grace L. Dakin, 82, of Ames died of congestive heart failure Friday at Story County Medical Center in Nevada. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home in Webster City, with burial at Cass Township Cemetery near Webster City. Mrs. Dakin was born near Webster City. She lived in Omaha during World War II, where she attended flight school and flew for the Civil Air Patrol. She farmed with her husband near Kamrar and Webster City before moving to Blairsburg in 1993. She was a school bus driver for North East Hamilton School and owned and operated the B&G Inn in Blairsburg with her husband. She later worked at the Boondocks Motel in Williams before retiring and moving to Ames. She is survived by a son, Jerry of Ames, a daughter, Joyce Dakin of Ames two brothers, Ray Abbott and Earl Abbott, both of Webster City and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
