Mrs. N. Coddington, Former Resident, Dies in Appleton

Mrs. Minetta Coddington, widow of the late Norman G. Coddington, former Jamestown resident, died recently in Appleton, Minn., according to word received here. Mr. and Mrs. Coddington for a number of years lived at Buelah Camp grounds. Mr. Coddington being the caretaker. It was under his supervision that many of the present buildings on the camp grounds were erected.

Funeral services were held at the First Congregational church in Appleton and burial took place in the Clarion Iowa Cemetery [Evergreen Cemetery]. Rev. Milton Schoepf was in charge of the services. Mrs. Arthur Sallen was the organist for a trio which sang hymns. Mrs. Coddington was born in Port Byron, Ill., November 23, 1876. When she was eight years old she came with her parents to Iowa. The family moved to several places in Iowa and Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Coddington were married Nov. 16, 1898 in Diagonal, Iowa. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary in 1951. Following their marriage, they moved to Wimbledon, N. D. and then to Pingree, N.D., where they took up a homestead, later moving to Pingree and then to Jamestown. For four and a half years Mrs. Coddington has lived in Appleton with her son-in-law and daughter Rev. and Mrs. Lee State.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. State, Appleton, Mrs. Lena Tilton, Ft. Dodge, Iowa, and Mrs. Elmer Coulter, Glidden, Iowa, and son Lyle, Stratton, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Potter, Clarion, Iowa, and Mrs. Spencer Anderson, Spokane, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mr. Coddington died in December 1951.
