Dennis G. Knoll, 57, Catlin, IL, died January 4, 2009 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Services were held January 8 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville. Interment was at Catlin. Dennis was born April 17, 1951 in Belmond, the son of Lynn and Donna (Gray) Knoll. He married June Papst in Pittsburg, PA in 1979. Dennis received his associate degree from NIACC. His business ventures included owning several truck stops, including Knoll's Oakwood Truck Plaza, Joshua's Family Restaurant, and real estate developments. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and had been a member of the Catlin School Board. Dennis' great joy was spending time with his family and friends, playing bridge, golf and fishing. He was a devoted Hawkeye fan.

Preceding Dennis in death were his parents. He is survived by his wife; sons Steven of Allen, TX, and Kevin, Keith and Jonathan of Catlin; his 13 siblings, Michael (Claudia) Knoll of Ossining, NY, James (Kathy) Knoll of Corpus Christi, TX, Mary Luick of Belmond, Paul Knoll of Anaheim, CA, John (Roylene) Knoll of Belmond, Kathryn (Bill) Cahill of Danville, IL, Patrice (David) Whitty of Lancaster, WI, Jeannie (Pat) McWhorter, Kevin (Deb) Knoll, Elizabeth (Bernard) Barrett, Angela (Dennis) Olson all of Belmond, Sherrie (Brad) Kunecke of Atchison, KS, and Matthew (Kim) Knoll of Wesley; mother-in-law Dolly Papst of Pittsburgh; sisters-in-law Petra Papst of Pittsburgh and Beth (Jim) Andoga of Highland Village, TX; and 57 nieces and nephews.
