Funeral services for Edwin (Pete) Hartwig, who died last Friday morning, December 7, were held from the home of his parents and at St. Paul's American Lutheran church Monday, Dec. 10. Interment followed at the Meservey cemetery, with Rev. W. Fritschel officiating. Singers were Helmeth and Walter Zuehlke. Pallbearers were George A. (Tom) Hartwig, Harvey Obrecht, Merlin Floy, Vernon Floy, Leonard Hafermann and Clarence Hafermann. In charge of flowers were Mrs. A. W. Numelin, Mrs. Murl Ytzen and Mrs. Elmer Christensen.
Edwin Dean Hartwig, the son of August and Dilla Kisner Hartwig, was born at the home of his parents southwest of Thornton, April 6, 1916. He has been a resident of this community his entire life. With his brother, he farmed southwest of town until 1943 when his health broke. Since then he has been operating a truck in Thornton. On August 8, 1944 he was married to Naomi Jewell Jensen. One son, Harlyn Lee, about four months old, was born of this marriage.
