Charlotte M. Klar died February 19, 2006 in Deer River. She was 66 years old. Charlotte was born in Hardy, Iowa, to Marlen and Frances Smith. She moved to Staples in 1949. In 1954 the family moved to Deer River. Charlotte was confirmed in the Deer River Methodist Church in 1955, and graduated from Deer River High School in 1957. On August 26, 1958, she married Elden Klar. Charlotte lived most of her married life on a farm close to Hinckley, where she enjoyed farming, gardening and raising her family. She also enjoyed snowmobiling, sewing and spending time with her family at the lakes and camping. Charlotte retired from the Plastech Corporation in Rush City at the age of 60.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, two infant sons, one infant grand daughter and one infant niece. She is survived by son Anthony Klar of Hinckley; daughters Debbie (Robert) Poenix of Deer River, Joyce (Frank) Klar of Shell Lake, WI; Elden Klar; brothers Everett (Jean) Smith of Bovey, Charles (Deloris) Smith of Deer River, Marion (Linda) Smith of Bovey; sisters Betty (Rick) Dibble of Citrus Heights, CA, Dorla (Mark) Nemith of South Bend, IN, Cindy Smith of Falls Church, VA.

Funeral services were held February 23 at Tatting - Methven Funeral Home in Hinckley with Rev. Kevin Carr officiating. Music was provided by Brandon Chaffee, Bill Chaffee and Joan Gimpl. Casket bearers were Kevin Klar, Joseph Klar, Duane Klar, Jeff Poenix, Eric Hamer and Brandon Eskuri. Honorary casket bearer was Corey Hamer. Burial was at Rosehill Cemetery in Hinckley.
