David Mandsager was called home to be with his heavenly Father on Dec. 10 2008. David was born in Hardy, Iowa, on Aug. 29, 1942, on the family farm. He was the youngest of six children from a family of Norwegian heritage. He had many fond memories of his upbringing, which fostered a strong faith, caring nature and remarkable work ethic. David graduated from Renwick High School in 1960 and went on to Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. It was there that he met the love of his life, Kathy Howe from Boulder, Colo., and they were married in 1964. To this day, they maintain strong relationships with many friends from those days. With a B.A. in business, Dave enjoyed a long and successful career including a move to Loveland with the Southland Corp. In 1986 he left Southland to pursue a career in real estate and found a perfect match for his personality and talents. He enjoyed serving the community in this capacity, and in 2003 ventured out to start his own successful business, Mandsager and Sorenson Real Estate and Management.

David was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where his already strong faith in Jesus matured. He has been a well-known and respected member of the Loveland community for the last 28 years. Anyone who came to know Dave felt an immediate connection that engendered trust and camaraderie. Dave celebrated life to the fullest. He was a sports enthusiast, wine connoisseur, dog lover, and most of all enjoyed love and laughter with family and friends. He loved to travel, but his favorite recreation was fishing at Mount Massive Lakes in Leadville, Norwegian lutefisk dinners, and frequenting Adelita’s restaurant in Loveland.

David is survived by his wife, Kathy, and their four children, Jana, Krista, Lara, Matt, their spouses Dean Madere, Tom Plunkett, Chris Binns, and Kelly Mandsager; 11 grandchildren, Kayla, Jessie and Maddie Madere, Hayden, Gunnar and Liam Plunkett, Blake and Becca Binns, Ethan, Luke and Molly Mandsager; five siblings; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Redeemer Lutheran Church (Lemay and Carpenter), with a pre-service viewing and post-service lunch reception followed by the burial at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder. Donations can be made in his name to the following charities: Child Voice, Sarah Mandsager Music Scholarship Fund at Augustana College, Dumb Friends League and Redeemer Lutheran Building Fund.
