David Christian Miller was born on October 9, 1927, at Milton, Pennsylvania to Jennings and Florence (Mildred) Kinsinger Miller. He was baptized in the Methodist faith. David moved with his family to Chicago, Illinois as a young boy. He graduated from Lane Tech School in 1945. David served his country towards the end of World War II in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1948. He was Seaman Second Class and was a Corpsman, serving in China on the U.S.S. Benevolence and the U.S.S. Repose. After his service, David was married to Marilyn Attig on July 1, 1951, at Renwick, Iowa. The couple lived in the Chicago area, where he was a draftsman and designer until 1991. During this time, David worked on projects for Avon and Walt Disney. While in Chicago, David was active in the Calvary United Methodist Church. He served on several committees and was active in choir and Men's Dartball at the church. He enjoyed singing and was active in the West Towns Barbershop Chorus, Lombard Chapter of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. He was also a member of the Friendly Overtures, which was a Men’s Barbershop Quartet. He also belonged to the Oakbrook Terrace Lion’s Club.
After his retirement, David and Marilyn moved to Renwick. David’s wife, Marilyn preceded him in death on August 9, 2000. He was married to Donna Classon Nerem on September 6, 2003, at Forest City, Iowa. The couple shared their time living in Renwick and Forest City. They also enjoyed spending winters in Florida. Each year, David looked forward to hosting the family and friends reunion at his home in Renwick. David was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing and wood and soap carvings. He also enjoyed gardening and golfing. (He had 3 holes in 1 in his lifetime).

David died on Sunday, August 7, 2005, at his home in Renwick. He was 77 years, 9 months, 29 days. David is survived by his wife, Donna of Forest City and Renwick, Iowa and his children, Carol Fleming and husband, Jim, Naperville, Illinois, John Miller and wife, Becky, Dalhart, Texas, James Miller and wife, Cyndi, Aurora, Illinois Donna Schreur and husband, Charles, Kirkland, Illinois and Robert Miller, Rockford, Illinois. Also surviving are his stepson, Larry Nerem, Forest City, Iowa and his stepdaughter, Joleene Hart and husband, Steve, Savonberg, Kansas. David is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his sister, Nancy Miller, Bartlet, Illinois and his brother, Alan Miller and wife, Sue, Park Ridge, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Marilyn, his son, Kenneth and 3 brothers, Jennings, Don and George.
