DUMONT, Iowa -David L. Peterson, 70, of Dumont died Thursday March 20, 2003, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Services were held Saturday, March 22, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hampton with burial in the Dumont Cemetery. Father Jim Miller officiated.

David was born Aug. 29, 1932, to Alex and Lillie Graff Peterson at Popejoy. He graduated from Geneva High School in 1950 and on Aug. 29, 1953, he married Berneta Reicherts in Waterloo. He and his wife were farmers near Sheffield until moving to their farm near Dumont. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Hampton. David was active in the Dumont Telephone Company, ASCS Committee, and a former member of the Dumont School Board, the Aredale Elevator Board and the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Berneta, of Dumont; four sons, Dennis, and wife Janice of Bristow, Dean, and wife Mary, Daniel, and wife Teresa, and Dwight, and wife Sherry, all of Dumont; three daughters, Debra Miller and husband Dalen of Dumont, Donna Boots and husband Bob of Pella and Dawn Peterson of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Pat Cooper and husband Loren of Dows and Beulah Schuldt and husband Duane of Tripoli; a brother, Lauren Peterson and wife Meredith of Rolla, Mo.; 26 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton was in charge of arrangements.
